July Sewage Pollution in South West England

This morning the Environment Agency issued a single “pollution risk” warning for the beaches of Devon and Cornwall, at Combe Martin on the coast of North Devon:

This evening South West Water’s WaterFit Live map shows an ongoing sewage pollution problem at Lynmouth, slightly further east:

There are no “pollution risk” warnings on the Environment Agency “Bathing Water Quality” web page this morning. The WaterFit Live map reveals that the sewage “spill” at Lynmouth lasted for almost 14 hours:
